Reedsburg, Wisconsin
Where business, technology and tradition converge.

Reedsburg's Notable Citizens

James Babb
Our most noted pioneer arrived here before Reedsburg was even a place. In the spring of 1844 this was just a lonely spot known to the few settlers in Wisconsin as "Indian Ford". Proceeding up the river he reached the fertile tract that comprised what became Babb's Prairie. From 1844 to 1851 "Babb's Ford" was the only river crossing we had. Mr. Babb was a great friend of the Indians, especially of Ahuchoga, the Chief of the Winnebagoes.

Clare A. Briggs
Clare A. Briggs, comic artist, was born in Reedsburg. He was creator of When a Feller Needs a Friend, Ain't it a Grand and Glorious Feeling? and The Days of Real Sport.  He was one of the greatest comedy artists American journalism has ever produced.

Agnes Moorehead
Agnes Moorehead, best remembered as the witch, Endora in BEWITCHED. Miss Moorhead was familiar to fans through her roles and familiar to many people in Reedsburg through visits with her mother.

Freda Meyers Nishan

Freda's unselfish devotion and desire to improve community life, her sincere concern for the welfare of its citizens and her constant endeavors to do good unto others brought about an unprecedented generosity when she became Reedsburg's most generous benefactor. Thousands of local citizens have benefited from her largess over the years and will continue to do so far into the future.

Joshua Sanford
Joshua Sanford was the only Native American to fly as a pilot and flight commander with the famous Flying Tigers of World War II.

Herbert H. Webb

At the age of 25, Webb, along with 2 younger partners, started what became the largest department store in this part of the state, the Big Store. He developed a successful financial career and lived most of his life away from Reedsburg. However, he cherished the city and visited often, eventually establishing a large trust fund which continues to benefit the citizens of Reedsburg.
